3 months

time is flying! logan gets chubbier and more smiley as the days go by (although you wouldn't know the smiley part from this picture). we fall more in love with him each day. we are smitten!

these days logan is:
  • starting to giggle. it is music to my ears. dave is the master at getting him to laugh. first real laugh=october 4th
  • turning himself completely around in his crib (head ends up where his feet began)
  • sleeping through the night! hallelujah! last night he slept for 10 and a half hours and it was heaven!
  • discovering his hands. he is constantly sucking on his fingers or his whole fist.
  • drooling (i think it goes along with the previous item)
  • scratching his face. i can't seem to keep his nails short enough (it doesn't help that i hate trimming his nails. i usually convince dave to do it)
  • "standing"
  • rolling onto his side to get a toy
favorite toy:
  • watson the glo worm when it's time to sleep
  • herbert the caterpillar for sucking on and play time

brad paisley concert

for valentine's day while dave and i were dating he surprised me by learning to play a brad paisley song on the guitar (and since dave absolutely dislikes country music this was a big deal). my heart melted when he serenaded me after dinner. 6 months later we danced our first dance as mr. and mrs. david wessler to that song. a brad paisley song was the inspiration behind the name of this blog. needless to say, brad paisley is my favorite singer. and last month i finally got to see him in concert.
it was awesome! he played at an outdoor amphitheater and it was a beautiful night! he is an incredible entertainer. my sister-in-law kari and i had a fantastic time! now we just have to decide what concert to go to next!

being sick sucks

i don't have the patience for it. especially today. i have a h.o.t date with my husband tonight. this morning he told me he is going to wear his 3 piece suit. i can't wait! he looks dang good in a suit. i want to feel good so i am going to take it easy and sleep today (especially since logan woke up 2 times last night. where did that come from? it didn't make me happy). it's a little chilly outside, so it is the perfect day to curl up in bed. keep your fingers crossed that sleep, oj and medicine will do the trick (and that i can breathe through my nose again)!

happiness is...

when i was in college i had a "happy book" where i wrote down each day things that made me happy. it helped me to recognize the small and simple things that bring happiness. the other day i was thinking about how happy i am and it reminded me of my "happy book." so here is a "virtual" entry in my "happy book."
  • free day at the botanic gardens with my parents
  • country music videos
  • dancing in the kitchen with dave
  • costco samples
  • a clean house
  • being a member of relief society
  • the change of seasons and changing leaves
  • good girlfriends (and in this case a movie night to see "julie and julia" followed by delicious crepes)
  • working out with my hubby (p90x is killer)
  • longer nights of sleep (thank you logan)
  • people magazine
  • logan's smiles
  • falling asleep next to dave
  • laughing cow spreadable cheese (a sister missionary on my mission introduced me to it and i just rediscovered it. but from now on i can only discover it when it's on sale)
  • snuggling my baby
  • reading a good book
  • dave's cologne
  • foggy days
  • general conference and knowing we have a living, latter-day prophet
  • living close to family
  • appreciation from dave
  • smelly candles
  • facebook
  • pedicures with mindy (anything with mindy actually)
  • how logan is a "mini dave"
  • nutella and peanut butter (yes, i eat them together by the spoonful. i discovered this combo after our crepe night when some leftover nutella found its way back to my house. not my healthiest habit. which is why i don't let myself keep nutella in the house anymore)
  • uggs
  • getting to spend all day long with this guy
  • my iPhone
  • comfy pants
  • time together with old friends
  • reading blogs
  • when dave gets home from work

tie-dyed pappy

So where to begin about tie-dyed pappy? In trying to figure out what the grand kids are going to call the Wessler grandparents, our brother-in-law John suggested that they be called Gammy and Pappy. Of course there is a lot of pressure for a good grandpa name given the fact that I call my grandpa (my dad's dad) Buster. To further add to the hilarity of the names (which I never thought that that is what my parents would want to be called) my dad thought it would be even funnier to be called tie-dyed pappy, given his love of tie-dyed shirts. AWESOME! To make the name even better, my grandma managed to find Logan a tie-dyed onesie that matches perfectly to one of my dad's shirts. We thought that we needed to get some pictures of these to guys together. SO to really get Logan into the spirit of the shirt, I played for him one of my dad's favorite songs..."Uncle John's Band" by the Grateful Dead. I think Logan really got into it. Rock on tie-dyed pappy, rock on!

P.S.- if anyone is curious if we were in the south, tie-dyed pappy would come complete with a rocking chair on the front porch, a corn cob pipe, a loaded shot gun, and the southern "rebel" flag flying proudly beneath the stars and stripes.

2 months

logan turned 2 months last week.
i can hardly believe it.
here are his stats:
12 pounds - 50th percentile
23 inches - 50th percentile
head 39 cm- 25 percentile
lovin' his daddy!
at the doctor's right before he got his shots. he didn't know what was coming. he had to get 3 shots and it was so sad. i was glad dave was there to help pin him down so i didn't have to do it. we decided to make it a family affair and we all got shots (dave and i got our flu shot). we all were sportin' matching garfield band-aids.
these days logan is:
smiling lots...the kind of smile that lights up his whole face. even his eyes seem to smile (although he stops when the camera comes out). it makes my day to see him smile
cooing and making lots of noises
squirming all over the place
kicking his feet and waving his arms like crazy when he's on his back
holding his head up when he is on his tummy
noticing objects more and starting to "bat" at them
staring at us with his beautiful blue eyes (we hope they stay blue)
splashing in the bathtub
favorite toy: watson the glo worm

current nicknames:
monster
logi pogi
buddy
chub chub
squeaker

hallelujah!

logan slept for 8 hours last night!!
i hope this is just the beginning of many more long nights.
