one big easter post

here's the scoop on all our various easter related activities:

while the taylors were in town for spring break we did a little easter egg hunt at my parents house. although it wasn't necessarily little. we filled and hid over 100 eggs in my parents front and back yard and are fairly certain we found them all ;) i must have been enjoying the moment rather than taking pictures, because these are the only 2 i took.
we had a snowstorm hit the week before easter and it seemed like the perfect day to dye easter eggs since we were stuck inside. the kids were so excited. but this...
quickly turned into this, when someone tried to use the red dye that emma thought was hers and hers alone. wow!
it was fun and i'm glad we did it, but it was just a reminder to have realistic expectations when doing stuff with 2 little people. i don't think it was quite the hit we were expecting. maybe next year...
our friends the east's host a fun easter egg hunt every year (2012, 2011 dave and i can't get over how little the kids are. emma was just a few weeks old). we had perfect weather this year and were just missing dave, who had to work. boo! all of the kids were so excited for the hunt, but logan just wanted to stay inside and play with toys. i decided not to fight him about it, so this is where he hung out while emma went out and collected eggs.

easter morning the kids hunted for their baskets
and the easter bunny brought emma the sweetest book. it melts me.

speaking of melting me...these 2 are the cutest! i loved their easter clothes!
we attended church with my parents and it was wonderful! i love attending their ward, the ward i still affectionately refer to as "my home ward," even though it hasn't been my home ward since i went to college.
we hung out with my parents for a couple of hours and then headed over to pete and kathy's. the kids got to participate in another easter egg hunt

and these eggs were filled with quarters! i thought it was so clever since gammy and pappy know how much the kids love to put coins in their piggy banks (they almost always come home from their house with pockets full of change). but dave told me that when he was growing up their eggs always had coins in them. fun that the tradition is being passed on to the next generation!
their easter baskets were filled with fun things like bubbles and sidewalk chalk that they just had to try out!

i don't know what he was upset about, but i love this picture! he's also sporting his new big bro shirt!
pete and kathy got this awesome racetrack that the kids are obsessed with. emma did this for a few minutes. she's so funny.
we had such a great day spending time with our families. i am itching for a new adventure for our family in a new place, but days like this remind me how blessed we are to live close to both of our families.
i am so grateful for easter! i am so grateful for our knowledge of the resurrection, to know that christ lives and that because of him, we too will live again one day. i have so much more to say about it, but that will have to suffice for tonight!

sunday

snapshots of our sunday from a couple of weeks ago. it was just a regular day and i really loved it!
emma is very resourceful and gets the stool whenever she can't quite reach something
this was their boat. it made me tired pushing the 2 of them around in that thing for even a short amount of time.
in case you're curious about emma's all green ensemble, it's from her hulk halloween costume and is her favorite comfy outfit, reserved just for sundays after church when we don't leave the house :)
dave cooking dinner. i just love that sight!
haha! and yes, that is a doll stroller!
logan scavenging for a drink. in these 2 pictures he is drinking out of 2 different cups...neither of which are his.

fun with cousin kate

a few weeks ago we were lucky enough to have cousin kate stay with us for 3 days while the rest of her family were spending spring break skiing in the mountains. kate is just 2 weeks older than emma and it was so fun to have her spend time with us. the 2 of them are different in looks and personality, but they had a great time together and logan loved having another playmate. the only downside was that we don't have a car big enough for 3 car seats and so we were stuck at home. luckily it was only for 3 days, but by the afternoon each day, everyone was feeling a bit stir crazy. i am a firm believer in leaving the house everyday, it makes for a happier mama and happier kids and these few days reiterated that! but we made the most of our time at home together.
different day, same spot. it makes me laugh how they get in the zone when monkey george (aka curious george) comes on.
things got quiet and i found them hiding in the corner with my phone watching elmo.
who knows what dave was showing them, but it must have been interesting.
contrary to the previous photos, we did do more than watch stuff. i made up some bath paints that i had spotted on pinterest awhile ago and set the kids loose. they thought it was cool and the pretty colors quickly turned to brown and gray. i quickly learned that kate doesn't like to have dirty hands. she was constantly asking me to clean her hands, which of course was futile. bathtub painting eventually led to bath time for my little picassos and i loved seeing the 3 of them in the tub together.

and nothing keeps the kids occupied for a bit of time than pulling out a big container of marbles and the dirty marbles board (gotta start 'em young).
it was so much fun, although i am ok not having 2 year old twins ;) one night when dave was reading the kids their bedtime stories i looked at them and thought to myself, "3 kids feels good!" i can't wait for this little guy to come join the bunch!

little reminders

one night as i pulled back the covers to crawl into bed i found this:
it made me laugh and was a sweet reminder of the fun little people we share our house (and apparently our bed) with.
and i must say it was a sweeter reminder than stepping on one of these cars, which can really hurt and not necessarily bring sweet thoughts to mind!
