it's been one of those weeks...

the good kind. the kind that is jammed packed with fun things. it often seems like it is feast or famine for us...either there is a lot to do or nothing going on (although we are always busy. but you know i'm talking about the fun kind of busy). this week was a fun feast!

a week and a half ago dave and i headed to water world, denver's awesome water park (it's been rated as one of america's top 10 water parks by the travel channel). we had so much fun being together and riding all the rides (no pictures. we were too busy playing. plus i don't feel any need to share pics of me in a swimming suit). by the end of a great day we both reached the conclusion that we are more "roller coaster people" than "water slide people". next stop elitch's!

a weekend of camping with dave's family. of course we took tons of pictures so the trip gets its own post (i always dread doing posts when i have to choose from so many pictures. it's overwhelming. but i'll suck it up and do it).
celebrating my dad's birthday (the BIG 65) and welcoming the rawlings to town! my sister and her family just moved to colorado and i am loving it!
eclipse at midnight with friends
we went to village inn before because my friend stephanie promised to be less cynical if she had pancakes in her stomach! mindy and i also sported crowns she gave us to the movie (because i'm sure steph wouldn't be caught dead in one). i was pleasantly surprised that i actually enjoyed the movie (because i didn't like the first two). liking the movie made getting home at 3:10 am a little more bearable! (bad pictures compliments of my phone in a dark movie theater)
logan's car seat arrived
i know it's a silly thing to include, but i'm excited to have him facing forward. he's been breaking in it until next week when we can strap it in!

bodyworlds with cole and mindy
the human body is amazing! how is it not proof enough to people that there is a god? there is no way it could have just happened so perfectly. incredible exhibit!
the last airbender with kari and sterling
dave has been looking forward to this movie for months (at least 6 months). it got crummy reviews but we went anyway and luckily dave enjoyed it (i would have been so sad if he didn't like it since he had been looking forward to it for so long).
fireworks
the 4th of july is one of my favorite holidays. this year was a little anti-climatic with it being on sunday, but i loved seeing the fireworks and logan was mesmerized by them...for a moment! i saw a super pregnant lady at the fireworks show and it took me back a year when i was super pregnant and just waiting to pop (little did i know on that day that it would be another 9 days!). it was much more fun to have the little munchkin out and about this year!

a belated father's day post

dave spoiled me on mother's day and so i tried to return the favor. the day was full of yummy food, a couple of presents, a nap for dave and time spent together. i loved having a whole day to celebrate dave! ps - the cute "super dad" toppers and "m&m bow-tie" are compliments of alison from 00psey-daisy you should check her out!
this burger was our attempt to recreate the" juicy lucy", something we saw on the travel channel. it is 2 patties with cheese inside that melts as you cook it and oozes out when you take a bite!
it was A LOT of meat, but oh so good! and dave was nice enough to help prepare his father's day dinner!
i can't seem to find the words to describe how i feel about dave as a father. they all seem inadequate. he is incredible! the best! he exceeded my expectations (and i had high expectations). i wish i could capture on camera the moment that dave walks in the door from work. the picture would "say" what my words lack. there is no doubt how much dave and logan adore each other. they both light up. it brings me soo much happiness!
a few moments i love over the past year that i have captured.

logan's ad campaign

logan is getting into everything these days. he finds stuff that i didn't even remember we had. it makes me realize how much junk we have sitting on the floor (i feel like i am saying no constantly) and i am feeling motivated to de-clutter and organize.
the other day i found him with this skull candy decal stuck to him (it stuck thanks to the drool running down his chest). it was perfectly placed/aligned. i think he could be the new face for skull candy. they definitely couldn't find a cuter face!

summer time fun

we have been enjoying summer so far and have been spending lots of time at the splash park (3 times in the last week to be exact) and swimming. logan is a little water baby and loves it! and i think he is the cutest in his little swimming trunks! plus it totally wears him out and he takes great afternoon naps, which i love!

in action

i just got sent a link to a few professional pictures that were taken during the marathon. of course they are ridiculously expensive to purchase so i used my limited computer skills to try and save them to my computer for free.

just getting started...garbage bag and all.
sooo many hours of running ahead of me!

still smiling!
most of the race was through provo canyon. it was beautiful and i had to remind myself more than once to look up from the pavement at the beautiful green mountains around me.

crossing the finish line!
hallelujah!

finished!
hurting.
relieved.
proud.

CTEM reunion

the night of my race was my mission reunion (the canada toronto east mission aka the CTEM) and the timing couldn't have been more perfect since i was actually in town for it! i loved catching up with everyone and reminiscing about such a wonderful time of my life.

with kimber (my old companion) and chris

a few outtakes. i'm not sure what i was laughing at, but it must have been funny

a stunning picture of emily, the sister of an elder from my mission and my new friend. she was hilarious and kept me laughing and informed on mission gossip (which somehow she knew and i didn't. i'm so out of the loop). she also laughed at me as i did "laps" around the gym visiting with people and shuffling like a 90 year old since my body hurt.

i love this kid! he did so good the whole trip even though his schedule was out of whack and i never got him to bed on time (for example this night he went to bed 3 hours later than usual. yikes!)

(left) liz and melanie. a couple of my closest friends from my mission. i love these girls!
(right) president and sister taylor. they are amazing and i was SO happy to see them. sister taylor was even nice enough to let logan take her name tag

not from the reunion, but i wanted to include these pictures with my sister-in-law erin. she and her husband john were nice enough to come down from ogden and meet me in slc for dinner. it was so great to see them and congratulate them in person since they are expecting a baby in december!! we're so excited for logan to have another cousin.

i also got to visit with my old roommate kristen and meet her 3 beautiful girls (the last time i saw her she didn't have any kids). she is as fun, incredible and talented as ever. i wish i had taken a picture. all in all, it was a fantastic trip to utah!
