it is hard to believe that connor is 2 and a half weeks old. time is going entirely too fast. with this being my third baby, i'm all too aware of how quickly this sweet newborn phase passes, so i'm trying to soak it all in: the snuggles, the way his body curls into mine when i hold him, the almost constant sleepiness, his milk coma, his puckered lips, his baby smell, the little grunts and noises he makes, the way he can sleep through anything (like his siblings both having major [screaming] meltdowns right next to him and he is unfazed).
we are all smitten with this little guy! logan and emma are always wanting to help and give him loves (emma alone must give him at least 25 kisses a day). and dave and i just try and make sure connor doesn't get loved too much by his siblings! the second he starts to cry, emma gets really concerned and says "tonnor trying [connor crying]!" she tries to calm him by sticking a binkie in his mouth or putting a blanket on him (we're still reminding her not to put the blanket over his head). he is such a sweet baby! he is a super eater (when we went to the doctor when he was 10 days old he was not only back to his birth weight, but had passed it and weighed 8 pounds, 4.5 ounces) and a super pooper (he seriously has 4-5 poopy diapers a day! by the time he was 13 days old, we had already gone through a box of 96 diapers, not to mention the handful we brought home from the hospital). he gets the hiccups almost every time he eats and only seems to fuss when he is hungry, needs a diaper change or needs to burp. here's what life has looked like lately since he's joined our family:
we are "babysitting" our friends' trampoline until they find a house and the kids love it! and i love how it keeps them happily entertained for so long.
the kids and i have been well taken care of since connor's arrival. dave was home the first week after connor was born and took care of everyone and everything. he changed countless diapers, read stories, played, took the big kids on outings, snuggled connor, got everyone breakfast and lunch and anything else that needed to be taken care of. and me, well i was able to just rest and recover thanks to all he did. the poor guy was exhausted by the end of the week! he is truly the best! when he headed back to work my mom came over everyday to help out. she brought a fun activity for the kids each day (like the play-doh and tools pictured below) and we all couldn't wait for her to arrive each morning. she spoiled all of us (for me it was washing dishes, folding laundry and entertaining kids so i could take a nap)!
so far life with 3 feels natural and normal. i hope that feeling continues as i get back into the routine more of everyday life. this much i do know, i feel so blessed!
