logan spills the beans

his shirt says it all...
we are so excited to welcome wessler baby #2 in the spring!
due date: april 8, 2011
(hopefully that date will mean something to this baby)
i'm 13 weeks along

i've had a really good pregnancy and haven't been sick at all, but boy have i been exhausted. as in i have felt like i physically couldn't get out of bed or off the couch. it felt like i had been drugged and that all of my limbs weighed 1,000 pounds and i couldn't move (that sounds dramatic, but really, that's how i have felt) poor dave has had a zombie wife for the last couple of months and i would just lay on the floor and logan would have to bring me books to read or he would just crawl back and forth over me (that was great entertainment). but little by little i'm getting my energy back and feeling more like myself and we can't wait for #2!

erin's baby shower!

i decided it was time for me to stop just reading other people's blogs and start blogging again (i've been lazy). i also feel the pressure (the good kind) to get my act together since i know grandma gg checks everyday (it's no fun looking at the same thing that's been there for weeks. although if that cute thing is logan it is a little more bearable). what better event to get my blogging back on then posting about my sister-in-law erin's cute baby shower! erin came into town and kari and kathy threw a darling baby shower.

darling decorations and yummy food. i basically set up camp next to the chocolate fountain (no joke)!

the hostess with the mostess

visiting and games

presents of course! erin got hooked up! this little girl is all set.

logan kept busy pushing a chair around

and made himself comfortable on the floor amidst the tissue and wrapping paper.

the great grandmas and grandmas

sisters!

the wessler kids!

the fellas arrived after all the ladies left

this day will also be remembered as the day that sterling made one of grandma gg's dreams come true...driving a mustang! isn't she a hot thing for being a great grandma!!

we can't wait to meet baby girl near!

tub time hair

dave's handiwork

logi wan kenobi

the other day logan crawled over to his closet (that houses all sorts of random stuff. when your house doesn't have much storage, you use every bit of space) and found dave's lightsaber. logan has been enamored with it; the light, the sound, trying to hold it, trying to turn it off (he says "uh oh" every time we turn it off). i think it was a dream come true for dave. i could see him flashing years ahead where he and his son can geek out together with things like star wars. it's hilarious and dave is in heaven.

Love of my life!

So let me tell you why I am madly in love with this wonderful woman. First and foremost she is a fantastic wife and an incredible mother. It is obvious how much Logan loves to be with his mama. Often times she has to take care of 2 kids, myself being one of them. I'm pretty sure she didn't sign up for that when we got married. While I am at work, she is making sure we have food in the fridge, a clean house, clothes to wear, and bills are paid, and Logan is happy.
On top of all of that she makes sure that I am staying on top of my school work, and that I am doing the best I can at everything. She supports me in doing what I need to do as a priesthood holder in our home. I love her insights to the scriptures and the gospel. I hope that one day I may come close to matching the faith she has.
One of the things I love most about her is that she is never repulsed by how nerdy I can really get. I love Star Wars, video games, Lord of the Rings, comic books, and anything else that would make me an uber geek. She has embraced my nerdiness, and I love her for that. Sometimes she will geek out with me, and it makes things even better.
Last night I came home from work late, and she surprised me with a copy of Halo:Reach video game, the latest installment in the Halo series. Her coolness factor as a wife just increased by 500 points. Man I love her!
Thank you Steph for everything you do for me. For laughing with me, supporting me when times are tough. Thank you for letting me be me.

beans and bath

logan tried refried beans last night and he loved them!

until he rubbed his dirty, beany hand in his eye and realized they go much better in him mouth than his eye.

it was straight into the bath for him

where he showed off his latest trick of flipping onto his belly and "swimming."

maybe we didn't go swimming enough and he is resorting to bathtub swimming now.
(sorry if you're offended by his little, white butt. i think it's pretty darn cute. i am biased though)

labor day camping: the good, the bad and the ugly

over labor day weekend we went camping in estes park. there were definitely some good moments. like seeing this elk right in front of us. we had to wait while he crossed the road before we could pass.

other good moments: yummy tinfoil dinners, s'mores, playing uno, hanging out around the campfire and being there with the rawlings (i love having them live in colorado)

logan loved playing with the pebbles and getting completely dirty

and of course the hike up to 3 beautiful lakes was good

so what was bad and ugly, you might ask?
well it was all thanks to this little guy
[ok, he was the bad. i think i can take credit for the ugly (see picture above from the hike). i just don't look cute if i don't get ready]
sure, he looks cute, but man was he bad! he wouldn't take his afternoon nap but i wasn't too worried because i assumed he would sleep on the drive up to estes. but he refused. so by the time we got the tent set up it was definitely bedtime for the little dude. he slept for maybe an hour and a half and woke up screaming. apparently he just needed a little power nap and he was ready to party. since it was pretty cold and logan kicks off all blankets, we decided to have him sleep with us. it worked wonderfully on our last camping trip and was even fun (nothing like snuggling together as a family). this time that was not the case. not too long after we went to bed he started screaming! we were in a KOA campsite and it was real close quarters with all the other campers. after trying unsuccessfully to get logan to stop screaming we knew we couldn't stay there and wake everyone else up. so from 12:30-1:00 am we cruised estes park (not much was happening). logan fell asleep in the car for about 10 minutes and we decided to give it one more try before heading home. i guess he just needed another power nap because he was ready to play. he spent the next hour or so crawling around us (while dave and i attempted to sleep), poking at my face, playing the drums on my sleeping bag and whatever else he could figure out. i thought maybe if i ignored him it would stop being fun and he would go to sleep, but apparently i don't think like a 1 year old. when dave finally heard me say in exasperation, "logan LAY DOWN" he grabbed him and pinned him down in his sleeping bag. logan must have finally gotten tired enough because he actually went to sleep. dave spent the next couple of hours sleeping carefully (as in badly) and trying not to move or wake up logan, who eventually woke up around 6:30. needless to say, it wasn't our best night of camping. as i type it, it doesn't sound as bad as it felt. but there is something totally unnerving about a screaming baby that you can't get to stop and it is magnified 200% when it is in the middle of the night (and especially when you're not at home). even with all the good and the fun, it will most likely go down in our memory as a bad camping trip. hopefully next time will be better (good thing we have until next summer to mentally prepare for it)!

after being totally exhausted (as in, i can't remember the last time i was so tired), our labor day was totally laborless! aahh! we slept in, went out to breakfast (probably one of our favorite things to do) and laid around watching "veronica mars" (our latest tv addiction thanks to netflix and the ability to watch instantly) until we went to a bbq with friends and went to bed early! it felt like a holiday and i loved just hanging out with dave non-stop. in fact, whenever i get to spend so much time with him i go through withdrawals when real life sets back in. that was the case with tuesday. i missed him like crazy. when's our next 3 days weekend?!!
