snow day

logan and i returned last night from california to a winter wonderland (even though it is still autumn...colorado is a step ahead). i was bummed because dave got a half day off from work yesterday and we missed the chance to spend it with him. but lucky for us, today was another snow day!

it consisted of what any good (lazy) snow day should...
  • wearing cozy clothes (our little moo'er)

  • eating crumb cake for breakfast (really i think most days should consist of this)
  • watching movies (and a few recorded episodes of "so you think you can dance") and snuggling on the couch
  • a trip to the halloween store
  • napping
  • putting off doing the dinner dishes to blog
i think i'll have some mint hot chocolate before tackling those dishes (i'm really good at stalling. something i have mastered growing up)...

we love logan!

we love to take pictures and of course logan is our favorite subject. as a result we have lots of random pictures of logan and i couldn't help but post some (ok, a lot) of them. i warn you, there are a lot. so this post is for all the logan enthusiasts (aka family members). and it's for me too because i think he is so dang cute!
he has good taste already...going for the coldstone

leaves

the leaves all over my front lawn finally got to me today and so i decided to rake them up. i hate raking. actually raking isn't too bad, what i really hate is bagging leaves. this is how far i got before it was lunchtime for logan (please ignore our ugly grass. we are renters who obviously don't take pride in our house...trust me, it isn't worth the effort).

besides, i figured i would wait for dave to get home so we could tag team the bagging. i will admit it was a little discouraging to see leaves continue to fall from our tree while i was raking. this won't be the last time raking this fall.

attempting craftiness

i go to church with some of the most talented and crafty girls i know. they are seriously amazing! these girls are constantly whipping up the cutest things (you name it, at least one of them can make it). i aspire to be like them. and lucky for me they are kind and willing to share their expertise. i am hoping some of their talent rubs off on me.

i decided to try making some wall hangings for logan's room. so with a few canvases, some scrapbook paper, mod podge and time (probably more time than it should have taken) these are what i came up with. we're going to hang them all in a row like a train (imagine that).
they're not perfect but i had so much fun making them. i loved having a project to work on. now i'm just trying to decide what to do next!

motherhood

last week my friend steph posted on her blog about motherhood. i LOVED what she said because i feel the same way...although i only have one kiddo at the moment and i call my husband dave, not taylor. still the feelings ring true and i think it is worth reading (plus she is witty and has a great way of putting things).

here's another post my friend gina found on a blog a while back about being a stay at home mom. i don't know the person who wrote the post, but i think she is brilliant!

since i'm talking about motherhood...i watched stephanie nielson on oprah a couple of weeks ago (actually i recorded it and have watched it more than once since then). she is amazing and inspiring. but it is not just because of the accident, she was always amazing and inspiring. she didn't have to have this near death experience to appreciate the things in life that really matter (motherhood, marriage, family, god). she chose to embrace and love these things on a daily basis (even the menial and hard things). that is what made her so incredible and inspiring. i wish oprah would have pointed that out. we shouldn't have to have some huge bad thing happen to remind us what is important. not that it is always easy. sometimes it is too easy to get caught up in the everyday grind. i think embracing and appreciating the day to day things takes conscious effort. i remind myself of that. i think the effort is worth it. i also loved how oprah talked about the wonderful "energy" of their house. as i heard that i imagined members of the church across the country chuckling to themselves because we know it is the spirit of god that the girl who visited felt!

alright, i'm stepping off my soapbox now. way to go moms!

christmas in october

for christmas last year i asked for tickets to see "wicked" when it came to denver. i finally got to cash in on my present last week. it was amazing! dave even liked it...which i think was a surprise to him (but not to me). it was so much fun to get dressed up and go on a date with my hubby! i think i definitely appreciate them more since logan has come along. the days following the show were spent with "defying gravity" and "popular" in our heads!
